Flos KTribe: clear design with sophisticated effects

Flos first presented the KTribe pendant lamp in 2005, and two years later the collection was expanded by Philippe Starck to include the KTribe floor, table and wall lamps.

Essentially, the KTribe lights consist of a conical shade made of semi-transparent, vaporized methacrylate and an aluminium structure. Inside the shade is a second opal, injection-molded polycarbonate shade. While the inner workings of the KTribe luminaire are not visible when switched off in the silver-transparent shade with aluminized surface and in the bronze version, the shade transforms when the light switch is pressed: it becomes semi-transparent, the silhouette of the inner diffuser is charmingly revealed and forms a wonderful geometric contrast. In the version with a clear shade, however, the inside is always visible.

KTribe by Flos is therefore a true quick-change artist - when switched off, the shade appears cool and elegant thanks to the groove pattern; when switched on, KTribe sets decorative accents and provides pleasant, diffuse and glare-free light upwards and downwards. The KTribe Soft with its shade made of pleated textile fabric emits an even softer light. In addition to the pendant luminaires in two sizes, the timeless KTribe is also available as a floor lamp for reading or as a table lamp for bedside tables.

The small KTribe T1 Glass table lamp is a very elegant version of the modern classic luminaire. Here, the outer, conical shade made of transparent glass wraps around the opal inner diffuser made of polycarbonate like a breath, creating an exciting interplay of transparency and concealment.

The light source is not included.
