Scholtissek is a German furniture manufacturer based in Ostercappeln near Osnabrück. The company was founded in 1972 and has been operated as a family business under the leadership of Olaf Meckfessel since 2020. There, approximately 100 employees combine traditional carpentry craftsmanship with modern manufacturing technology and a clear focus on durable solid-wood furniture.
The collections focus on the natural appearance of the wood. Grain patterns, variations in color, knots, and natural tree edges are not completely standardized but are deliberately highlighted. As a result, the furniture does not look like mass-produced, interchangeable items but retains the unique character of the log from which it was crafted.
Scholtissek is particularly well-known for its one-of-a-kind tables. Tabletops made from a current selection of twelve precious woods can be combined with various stainless steel frames. Depending on the desired effect, customers can choose from highly textured tops, natural live edges, solid wood tops with synthetic resin, or tabletops made from one or two continuous planks. Customers can select their personalized tabletop directly at the workshop upon request.
In addition to fixed dining tables, Scholtissek offers numerous models with a built-in extension feature. Some tables can be operated with one hand and extended to a length of up to 3.50 meters. Casters under the table legs and precisely engineered mechanisms facilitate smooth extension without compromising the furniture’s clean design with visible hardware.
The collection also includes chairs, stools, and benches. The seating is designed to complement the tables and cabinet collections and is available in a variety of woods, leathers, and fabrics. Some benches can be extended parallel to the dining table and supplemented with flexible, snap-on backrests. This creates comfortable and adaptable seating solutions for both small and large table settings.
Another focus is on modular furniture. Collections such as FIRA, FARN, TALIO, DELANO, DIVANO, NOVUS, TRATUM, VARUS and ALL-ROUNDER The collection includes sideboards, display cabinets, glass-fronted cabinets, wardrobes, and custom storage solutions. Depending on the model, solid wood is combined with glass, ceramic, slate, leather, steel, or handcrafted metal surfaces.
Modular furniture can often be customized with different types of wood, front materials, and interior configurations. Doors, drawers, shelves, lighting, and bases can be selected to suit the intended use. As a result, the collections are suitable for living and dining areas as well as for home offices, entryways, and high-profile commercial spaces.
For the home office, Scholtissek offers desks and secretary desks with well-thought-out features. Hidden cable channels, holders for tablets and smartphones, and built-in secret compartments combine modern technology with understated furniture design. The range is complemented by coffee tables and Side tables, as well as the small furniture collection. PETITS.
Entire bedrooms can also be furnished with Scholtissek. Beds, nightstands, dressers, bench beds, and wardrobes are available in a variety of sizes, wood types, and finishes. The FARN wardrobe collection offers freely combinable shelves, clothes rods, clothes lifts, drawer inserts, and lighting options.
The collection showcases a particularly artistic side of the brand Cabinet of Curiosities. This collection includes sculptural cabinets, boxes, and storage pieces crafted from rare precious woods. The size, type of wood, and the number and arrangement of compartments and drawers can be customized. Each piece is handcrafted and combines furniture making with the art of collecting.
Scholtissek relies on manufacturing in Germany and long-term relationships with regional suppliers. According to the company, the solid wood used comes from sustainably managed forests. Precise CNC-controlled machines ensure dimensional accuracy, while key machining, assembly, and finishing steps are still performed by hand.
The wood surfaces are primarily oiled. The oil-wax blend used is based on linseed oil and contains small amounts of beeswax and carnauba wax. This preserves the wood’s natural feel while protecting the surface from typical household wear and tear. Regular care can reduce minor signs of wear and extend the life of the furniture.
Scholtissek is ideal for spaces where wood—as a natural material that can be seen and felt—is meant to take center stage. The combination of custom design, distinctive fine woods, precision engineering, and German craftsmanship results in furniture that can be tailored to any space and personal needs.
