LUXEMBOURG Bridge Garden Chair with Armrests

Fermob is a French brand of outdoor furniture, lighting, and home accessories. The company is particularly known for its colorful steel and aluminum furniture, which combines functional design with French flair. The collections are suitable for small balconies, private gardens, spacious terraces, restaurants, and public outdoor areas. The product range now also includes furniture and accessories for indoor use.

The brand’s history is closely tied to the classic French bistro chair. The lightweight, foldable chair was originally designed for cafés and public spaces because it was sturdy, easy to transport, and took up little storage space. Fermob continues to produce the Bistro collection to this day, combining traditional metalworking craftsmanship with modern colors and contemporary features.

Another well-known series is Luxembourg. It is based on the historic chairs of the Jardin du Luxembourg in Paris, which were designed in 1923 for the city’s public gardens. In 2004, designer Frédéric Sofia reinterpreted this classic for Fermob, developing it into an extensive collection of lightweight aluminum furniture for dining and relaxation.

Today’s product line includes garden chairs, armchairs, benches, dining tables, Side tables, lounge sofas, sun loungers, bar stools, serving carts, umbrellas, planters, and numerous accessories. The selection is complemented by portable battery-powered lights, table lamps, wall sconces, and decorative lighting. Among the best-known collections are Bistro, Luxembourg, Bellevie, Sixties, 1900, Alizé, Surprising, and Balad.

Color is an essential part of design. As early as the 1990s, Fermob introduced a wide range of colors for outdoor furniture, breaking away from the green, white, and natural tones that were common at the time. The colors are developed so that they can be combined with one another within a single collection or across multiple series. This makes it possible to create custom color schemes for various outdoor spaces.

Fermob primarily uses steel and aluminum in its products. Steel allows for delicate yet sturdy structures, while aluminum is particularly lightweight and corrosion-resistant. Depending on the collection, weather-resistant fabrics, woven materials, and upholstery are also used. The furniture is tested for safety, stability, durability, and long-term use.

Sustainability is also an integral part of the brand’s strategy. Fermob focuses on durable and repairable products, recyclable materials, solvent-free powder coatings, and a painting system that reuses excess powder. Recycled and recyclable packaging, as well as care products and replacement parts, are designed to further reduce the environmental impact and extend the lifespan of the furniture.

Fermob is ideal for anyone who wants to design their outdoor space to be functional, durable, and expressive all at once. The combination of clean lines, high practicality for everyday use, and an extensive color palette allows for designs that are both modern and quintessentially French.
