The cantilever chair S 32 and the S 64 version with armrests are the best-known classics made of tubular steel. Marcel Breuer designed it when he lived in Berlin in 1928. Their versatility still makes them one of the best-selling cantilever chairs today, as they suit both uncompromisingly modern furnishings and a mix of styles that leave room for different eras.

Another reason for the popularity of these tubular steel icons is the impressive combination of the new and the tried and tested: the bentwood with the airy Viennese weave for the seat and backrest embodies the Thonet tradition, the then revolutionary tubular steel frame stands for the present and the future. Thonet has been producing these two models since 1930.
