CH24 chair - lacquered beech

The CH24 chair, better known as the Wishbone Chair or Y-chair, is a masterpiece of Danish design, created by Hans J. Wegner for the renowned brand Carl Hansen & Søn. Inspired by antique Chinese chairs, this chair combines tradition and modernity in perfect form. The elegantly curved, steam-bent backrest, which also functions as an armrest, is not only a visual highlight, but also a functional element that allows the chair to be moved close to the table.

Made from solid, FSC-certified beech wood, the CH24 not only stands for outstanding craftsmanship, but also for sustainable production methods. Each chair goes through over 100 production steps and takes around three weeks to manufacture before it leaves the factory in Denmark. With a seat made of robust paper cord and the option to choose between different types of wood such as oak, ash, walnut and mahogany, this chair offers a variety that adapts to any interior.

Optimal use and care

Wood :

Wood is a living, natural material and should therefore always be cleaned as gently as possible. Regular cleaning with a damp cloth ensures that the furniture always looks good and has a beautiful patina. Never use aggressive cleaning agents to clean furniture.

Solid wood furniture should not be placed near heat sources such as radiators and wood stoves or stored in unheated rooms.
Wood is a natural material and therefore no two pieces are alike. Small knots, visible growth spots and color variations are part of the natural appearance of wood. The parts of a piece of furniture are always assembled according to color and structure so that the piece of furniture is beautiful and complete.

Paper cord

The paper cords used at Carl Hansen & Søn are made from sustainable, FSC-certified materials. We use two different colors of paper cords: natural and black. The natural paper cord is made from unbleached paper while the black cord is dyed.

Normal cleaning and maintenance
Paper cord typically requires little or no maintenance as the durable paper cord is designed to last for years. If you want to clean the seat, you can wipe it with a well-wrung soft cloth and a neutral, colorless soap solution. It is not recommended to do this too often as it may cause unnecessary wear and tear on the paper cord. The paper cord has a thin layer of wax that prevents staining. However, discoloration of the paper cord can occur if strong liquids, e.g. E.g. red wine, fruit juice or strongly colored food can be spilled on the cord.
