Carl Hansen Wishbone Chair (Y Chair) CH24 Natural Beech

The Carl Hansen Wishbone Chair CH24 by Hans Wegner joins the ranks of design classics. Wegner designed the Wishbone Chair (also called the Y Chair) based on ancient Chinese chairs. Its steam-curved backrest, which also serves as an armrest, looks like it was made from a single piece and which you can move very close to the table thanks to the savings. More than 100 work steps, 120 meters of paper cord and around three weeks of production time are necessary until the Wishbone Chair leaves the factory in Denmark and can write a piece of family history with you and your loved ones.

The resources that our nature provides are limited. That's why Carl Hansen uses every piece and every bit of the wood, which is predominantly FSC-certified and exclusively sustainably grown. Leftovers from which the carpenters can no longer produce high-quality furniture and accessories are used as fuel in a local district heating plant. In this way, Carl Hansen & Son supplies over 400 households in Gelsted, Denmark with heat.

Carpenters and craftsmen at Carl Hansen & Søn carefully crafted this Wishbone Chair from solid beech wood. You can also find the “Y-Chair” at Original Homestories in oak, ash, walnut and mahogany - each of these versions is available in different versions and optionally with a seat made of natural cord or black cord.

Optimal use and care

Wood :

Wood is a living, natural material and should therefore always be cleaned as gently as possible. Regular cleaning with a damp cloth ensures that the furniture always looks good and has a beautiful patina. Never use aggressive cleaning agents to clean furniture.

Solid wood furniture should not be placed near heat sources such as radiators and wood stoves or stored in unheated rooms.
Wood is a natural material and therefore no two pieces are alike. Small knots, visible growth spots and color variations are part of the natural appearance of wood. The parts of a piece of furniture are always assembled according to color and structure so that the piece of furniture is beautiful and complete.

Paper cord

The paper cords used at Carl Hansen & Søn are made from sustainable, FSC-certified materials. We use two different colors of paper cords: natural and black. The natural paper cord is made from unbleached paper while the black cord is dyed.

Normal cleaning and maintenance
Paper cord typically requires little or no maintenance as the durable paper cord is designed to last for years. If you want to clean the seat, you can wipe it with a well-wrung soft cloth and a neutral, colorless soap solution. It is not recommended to do this too often as it may cause unnecessary wear and tear on the paper cord. The paper cord has a thin layer of wax that prevents staining. However, discoloration of the paper cord can occur if strong liquids, e.g. E.g. red wine, fruit juice or strongly colored food can be spilled on the cord.
